About Us

With almost 20 years experience, our director Emma knows a thing or two about payroll.

Starting the first half of her career working for large businesses processing payroll for 20k + employees and the second, working with owner managed businesses in accountancy firms, the knowledge and experienced gained to be able to work at high volume without losing the personal connection to her clients has led to her building long standing relationships and an established reputation.

After working for and with a number of accountancy practices and bookkeepers, Emma noticed there was a real need for more payroll professionals in the industry. Not just processors but advisers where payroll was their priority, their training was up to date and yet still had the personal touch to provide the great service businesses expect from them.

She was determined to not be “just another” payroll bureau though. One that takes the service away from the accountant and bookkeeper instead of enhancing their existing business. Instead focussing on working collaboratively to ensure everyone is working pro-actively and going that extra mile for not just the employer but the accountant and bookkeeper too.

Whilst the core business was built with accountants and bookkeepers in mind, Emma has since found that many businesses with in-house payroll teams also find it a strain on their times time, expertise and ultimately their bottom line.

As ELS Payroll Associates has grown, we now offer consultancy and support services to help as many businesses as possible. Our mission is to give payroll the attention it deserves within a business and show the difference it can make when operating effectively.

Outside of payroll, Emma is a mum of two young children and her fur-baby (well not such a baby anymore). Other than being incredibly passionate about what she does, she also has a passionate love-hate relationship with the home she is renovating. When she isn’t remembering that there is a reason no one lets her do DIY, she loves escaping down to the coast at every opportunity and has been known to complete a payroll or two sat on the beach.
